I'll bet it's the kind of BlackBerry President Obama wouldn't mind having. And with a recommendation like that, it's only fitting that the 8900 earn our Editors' Choice as the best smartphone in T-Mobile's lineup, ousting the aging Curve 8320.
Even though it doesn’t support 3G data, the latest Curve’s fast processor, sleek design, and Wi-Fi capability make it one of the best smart phones around.
When everything is added up, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is one of the best smartphones on the market. The 8300 series was great, but the 8900 series is even better. With GPS, an autofocus camera, good web browsing, and WiFi/UMA support, the only thing that appears to be missing is 3G. We can live with that, for now.
Verdict: Big Thumbs Up. Wish it had 3G, though.
We're disappointed by the lack of 3G, but the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 is a solid update to the Curve series, bringing a better design, improved features, and faster performance and is one of T-Mobile's top smartphone offerings.
Barack Obama would love to get his executive mitts on the new BlackBerry Curve. Just like our new prez, RIM's latest smartphone is full of change. But unlike Mr. Obama, not all the change is promising.
Flaws aside, is this the best BlackBerry RIM has ever made? Not necessarily -- we bet we could find a diehard Bold lover for every 8900 lover out there -- but until the Storm gets its act together, it's certainly in the top two.
"The [Curve 8900] has managed to retain the DNA that made those devices so popular while also adding some neat extras into the mix such as the classier looks, faster processor and sharper screen. Sure, the lack of 3G is a disappointment, but whereas it would be a deal breaker on a lesser handset, on the 8900 it's simply a bit of a distraction.
BlackBerry diehards will find plenty to like about the capable-but-humble Curve.
