Everything a netbook should be: Offers the best performance available from a computer this portable and inexpensive. Very usable keyboard. Good quality audio. Includes three USB ports, 1.3-megapixel webcam, and SD card slot.
Overall, the Samsung NC20 surpassed every expectation I had for a netbook. I would even choose to buy a product like this (or even this very product) if I was in the market for a replacement notebook, or supplemental netbook.
But what you get for this premium is a combination that's near impossible to find on a netbook at this point—a 12-inch widescreen and a full-size keyboard. These two features alone might just compel you to fork over the extra cash.
The Samsung NC20 blurs the line between netbooks and low-cost ultraportables...the NC20 is...the more comfortable 12-inch computing experience, which we think many will be willing to pay extra for.
Basically...a cheap, but still high quality notebook for basic programs.
In terms of usability, with a 12.1" display, good-sized keyboard, reasonable weight and reasonable battery life, the NC20 offers what many people seek from an ultra portable, at an attractive price.
The NC20’s excellent keyboard, larger screen, and long battery life make it the perfect notebook for long stints of heavy typing. Single-application performance ranges from good to excellent, though multitaskers will want to stick with an Atom–based netbook.
Whichever way you cut it, the NC20 blurs the line between ultraportable and netbook with impressive aplomb. The higher screen resolution is a significant step up from the average 10in netbook, and this coupled with good performance and great battery life makes the NC20 an ideal travelling companion.
Samsung's NC20 stands out from the crowd in two very important ways. First, it's one of only a handful of 12-inch Netbooks...; secondly, it's the first laptop we've tested with Via's Nano CPU, intended as an alternative to Intel's popular Atom processor.
