"The Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR8's picture quality is sublime, easily the best I've seen to date in an LCD television."
"The short story is that the Sony [KDL-XBR8] is the best-performing flat-panel LCD we've ever tested.... Black level and color accuracy were superb, there's a cornucopia of video processing choices…, and bright-room picture quality was best-in-class. Our only gripe…was its tendency to fade when seen from off angle."
"The KDL-55XBR8 is a triumph of technology over the limitations of LCD. Its blacks are super-inky, its shadow detail is surprisingly good, its colors are rich and natural, its detail is stunning, and its off-axis performance is better than most LCD TVs."

"The panel found the Sony’s deep black levels impressive. They commented that the set was ‘significantly darker than any other set’ on full black images such as a fade to black between scenes. Comments like, “Nothing to criticize at all,” were frequent…. But this praise was tempered by negative comments on the Sony’s off-axis viewing limitations."
"One feature that we found very necessary was the Noise reduction feature.... Once turning on this setting option, the picture was crisp and clear with very little about which to complain. There is bright color, great contrast and black levels and…plasma-like viewing angles. There was some false contouring in dark on bright areas of the picture."

Gaming show formula
Refresh Rate is the most important characteristic for gaming.
Next we factor in the screen type. LCDs are the best because they have the highest resolution. Plasmas have lower resolution and are prone to "burn-in," and OLEDs have the lowest resolution.
Lastly we add our Picture Quality score to complete the picture.
(refresh rate x 2) + screen type + picture quality
